Scanning, scanning and more scanning! The studio does the highest quality scanning, which is called "archival scanning" using professional Epson scanners. Oversize pieces (such as a poster) are photographed with professional Nikon equipment in a studio setting.
The archival scanning is done in the studio and my work has been accepted into institutional archives, university archives, and museums for their own collections.
Most importantly, we also name your files (and add metadata when requested) in a way that you can always search and find them again.
Slides, negatives, documents and photos are all enlarged to at least 12" on the longest side or larger if needed. Photos, slides and negatives are scanned at 300dpi and 12" on the longest side.
Documents, books and any materials with type are scanned at 600dpi for the finest reproduction of text. Documents are not left with a scanner yellow tint, they are color corrected to an ivory or grayscale black-and-white depending on your needs.
Images are restored for color and removal of dust, scratches, fingerprints, cracks and even missing pieces can be added back into your original images.
The studio offers different levels of restoration based on each client's needs.
We cater to the aesthetic of our clients and always discuss the final use of our scans to make sure we are scanning to the size that might be needed in the future.
